Wrong. Trump Is Deliberately Saying It

If this was the only reference to, suggestion or instance of violence in his campaign, your case that he was careless or reckless might be true. But that is not the case.

The number of instances he has personally made remarks about being violent and those made by staff, advisors and supporters is now so large and commonplace that he is fully aware of the implications of his rhetoric. To suggest otherwise is to ignore the obvious and be foolishly naive.

Indeed, from his perspective, his message of fear with him as “law and order” guy would be enhanced by such a violent act. He would spin it and would be given the exact same benefit of the doubt you are now giving him. In other words, from his view there is no downside. If it were otherwise he would stop.
