Everyone except miscreants referenced desires immunity from the pestilence described. But, these problems have always existed in the real world and weren’t dealt with by abandoning civil liberties as suggested. Moreover, it must be obvious that widespread encryption inevitable.

The idea that we can eliminate these malcontents somehow is like suggesting we can rid the world of evil. There are two ways forward:

  • do the type of engineering suggested BUT absolutely prohibit governmental access without prior notice and with legal warrant, with severe penalties for abuse or misuse of access (never happen!)
  • Civilization, through trial and error, has coexisted with this disease by taking the high road. That is to elevate areas of excellence and shun people who traffic in such new trash and trouble (perhaps adding technology to ascertain/attribute source and create banned backlists)
