Perhaps Stream of Unconnected Dots is Issue

While there’s “truth” to what you say, your simple “we make mistakes” defense doesn’t fly. Everyone gets you’re a business trying to balance resources and cost with audience and advertisers. The problem most have is the stream reflects endless unconnected dots, choreographed to maximize audience and advertisers. Said differently, the business is not about maximizing audience understanding or issue context and clarity.

Perhaps, if it was there was a consistently offered visible scale of reliability on what is said/shown and direct references to reliable context, audience would either add to your reliable context or, for those who just want confirmation of their bias, leave you.

As is said, everyone is entitled to their opinions, but not their own facts.

Of course, as you say, even experts disagree. But there is usually a preponderance in some direction that should be noted. Everyone distains the two-handed commentary. Short of that, state upfront you don’t know and highlight key unknowns and ask for help.

But, then, none of this will help a declining medium, industry or profession
