Nicely Covered Most Areas Except Distance Travel

Seems to me that self-driving vehicles will also alter distance travel — both (1) rural to urban — if the SDV becomes the equivalent of another room in the house or office, seems commute distances can expand substantially. Electric vehicles adds to this as does less congestion on roads.

(2) long distance (e.g., state to state) — Why take a bus, train or plane with all the inconvenience when you can take an SDV. It eliminates all the annoyances yet provides all the personalized accouterments needed to make the sojourn seem more like a vacation. This could change holiday travel and attractiveness of more out of the way vacation destinations.

It also seem to me that open highways like the interstate no longer need speed limits and SDV aerodynamics can be engineered to lift off the ground. Think drone guidance systems with formula-one type modifications to add just enough lift to become airborne. Of course, the actual propulsion needs to shift from wheels to thrust. But the energy needed is available.
