All True, But Careers In Politics Follow, Not Lead

While there’s much to quibble about in what you say, the elephant you avoid is partisan politics and political careers. The electoral time horizon kills change on the scale and breadth proposed. Consequently, the situation is likely to become much more frayed, painful and chaotic until it reaches crisis proportions. Then governments will do what they have always done, overreact and exacerbate the situation.
